About Solfège Bohio

A living archive of Haitian music and lyrics.

What we do

Solfège Bohio is a community-built archive dedicated to preserving the lyrics, history, and cultural context of Haitian music — from classic Kompa and Twoubadou to Rara, Raboday, and beyond.

Our goal is to make Haitian lyrics searchable, readable, and shareable for fans, researchers, and the diaspora around the world.

What the name means

Solfège is the musical foundation — the system of syllables (do, re, mi…) used to teach pitch and melody. Bohio is a Taíno word for home. Together, the name means a home built on music — a place where the sounds of Haiti live, are named, and are passed on.

Our mission

Haitian music has shaped the Caribbean and the world for generations, yet its lyrics are often scattered, mistranscribed, or simply lost. We are building the definitive digital home for that music — one song at a time.

Every entry in the archive comes with full lyrics, cultural context, and links to stream the song, so nothing is left without a voice.

Where we are headed

Solfège Bohio is growing into a full digital media company. The archive is only the beginning — we are building toward a podcast, in-depth artist interviews, music licensing support, and more ways to connect fans, artists, and the global Haitian diaspora with the music they love.

Help us grow

This archive grows through community contributions. If you know the lyrics to a song that isn't here yet, we'd love your help adding it.
